The Ward Fire began on July 31, 2026 near Ward Mountain, approximately nine miles south of Ely, Nevada. The fire is burning in sagebrush, pinyon‑juniper, and mixed conifer fuels in steep and rugged terrain. The fire is being managed under a full‑suppression strategy.
