Gothic Fire (NVLVD)

Wildfire Status:

As of July 11, 2025, the Gothic Fire, located in Nye County, Nevada, has grown to approximately 30,522 acres. The fire, which originated on July 4, 2025, in a remote area of the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), is currently exhibiting active fire behavior, with short and uphill runs reported. Despite its size, there is no immediate threat to personnel, facilities, or nearby communities due to the isolated nature of the location, which is restricted military land limiting public access.

Fire suppression efforts are being coordinated by the U.S. Air Force in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Southern Nevada District. The Nevada Test and Training Range Headquarters is leading the firefighting initiatives, focusing on containment while ensuring the safety of military operations. Given the restricted access to Range 74, firefighting crews are able to concentrate their efforts without concerns for civilian safety.

Weather conditions are a significant concern for the ongoing firefighting efforts. On July 11, high temperatures, low humidity, and forecasted winds are expected to contribute to potential fire growth and smoke dispersal towards the north. Fire agencies are implementing point protection strategies, anticipating significant fire activity as conditions remain favorable for further spread. Current fire restrictions in Southern Nevada, effective since June 12, 2025, prohibit open fires and fireworks to mitigate the risk of new fire starts in the region.
